May 10, 2010
May 5th 2010 (Yakima Speedway, ASA Member Track, Yakima WA- The Yakima Speedway Management Team has been forced to cancel the two ASA Northwest Late Model Tour dates for 2010 including the Memorial and Labor Day weekends due to the demise of the tour series.
“With the demise of the ASA Tour, Yakima Speedway has no choice but to cancel the ASA Northwest Late Model Tour races and will continue to promote our Yakima Speedway Super Late Model Challenge Series which features some of the Northwest’s Premier Drivers and continues to grow each week. The series champion will be awarded $8000.00 and pays well through the top 10 in series points. Drivers are eligible if they compete in 8 of the 11 races and we are inviting all of them to race this series,” said track owner and promoter Ted Pollock.
Since the launch of the 2010 Yakima Speedway Super Late Model Challenge Series with a record $30,000 point’s fund, Super Late Model teams are eager to compete. Each week we have new cars arriving as well as commitments from teams for future races that will undoubtedly assure that this will be the Premier venue for the Northwest’s finest Super Late Model drivers, teams and fans.
Yakima Speedway Management and the Northwest Outlaw Street Stock Series have agreed to reschedule the slated Memorial weekend race to August 7th. This division will replace the Pure Stock division that was scheduled for that evening. We will also feature the Northwest Outlaw Street Stocks in one of Yakima Speedway’s most exciting weekends, the 2nd Annual Washington Street Stock Challenge slated for July 3rdwhich will bring even more excitement to the action packed weekend.
Yakima Speedway will still have racing action on September 4th & 5th, and due to the popularity of the Yakima Speedway Super Late Models we are adding a new event to the schedule which will feature an Open Style Super Late Model Race. Rules and prize money for this race will be posted for this non-points race event.
We are very excited about the changes and popularity of the 2010 Yakima Speedway Super Late Model Challenge Series as well as the amazing local business support that has made this series possible.
